Intergenerational Opportunities for Fellowship, Learning and Worship
Are you between the ages of 3 and 103? If so, Church Family Faith Nights are for You! Bible Study for all ages will combine with hands on projects! Join us on August 13th to find out what pop rocks and dove candy bars have to do with Worship!
During July's Church family Faith Night, we learned about the foundations of our faith through Bible stories about Peter. We made concrete stepping stones together!
Registration forms are available on the entryway table.
Christian Education is very important to us at HPC.
Sunday School is a passion for Hilliard Presbyterian Church.
We believe in its importance and life-lasting effects.
For our children, we use the new Workshop Rotation Model for Sunday School. Students study one important Bible story for four to five weeks in up to five different workshops: Art, Drama, Computer, Video and either Cooking or Games.
Each workshop is an active Bible study with interactive learning media.
To the teachers and parents it is "multi-dimensional learning."
To the kids it is A FUN WAY TO LEARN GOD'S WORD.
One of the "side benefits" of rotating kids between workshops is that the teachers can stay-put in the workshop of their strength. They teach nearly the same lesson each week to a different class. This means our teachers are getting better and better each week with the material. Children are currently grouped Preschool & Kindergarten and 1st - 5th Grades.
Youth have their own class which is currently addressing "Controversial Topics for Youth"
One adult class offering is the "Faith and Values" class, which meets in our church library. This group has been meeting together in the library for a number of years delving deeply into a variety of scriptures.
Breakfast With The Bible is our monthly intergenerational education event. On the first Sunday of every month, we gather in the Fellowship hall for breakfast and for a Bible study with all ages together. This is a lively, active and interactive was to consider passages of scripture with our whole church family... and of course, we love to eat together!
Adults and youth are also invited to a monthly speaker or presentation using the "Nooma" series of videos. In the past year we have had speakers from Second Harvest food bank, from the presbytery, and an OSU professor. The Nooma series of videos are about 10 - 12 minutes long followed by a Bible study and discussion session, and have been enthusiastically received by those who have participated! This educational opportunity is offered on the third Sunday of every month.
One of the benefits of being a small church is that everyone gets to know each other and see each other in Sunday School, Worship and Fellowship. It's a family atmosphere we cherish, and know the kids benefit from.
