"I don't often think of ministry as my "work," although it clearly is that too. Ministry is my life, and is intertwined with who I am in such a way that is is often difficult to separate.
Being a child and grandchild of missionaries, and being a sixth generation Presbyterian pastor made me at first shy away from ordained service. My college time was spent in theater and speech education. I had three years as an Army officer, and I was sure that I was headed toward a career as a high school teacher . It was not until God put me in a worship leading position while I was in Iran with the US Army that I began to listen to God's continuing call.
I have served four parishes in three states. In them I have found wonderful differences and amazing similarities. To follow Jesus Christ and to become the body of Christ hard at work serving God's world is what energizes me and gives me direction. Effective ministry cannot be done alone, and it is pointless unless shared."
Jim and his wife Ginny have 3 grown children and several grandchildren. Jim came to Hilliard Presbyterian in 1999.
