BUILDING

UPDATETony's Logo4

Work continues on both the sanctuary and the discussions with the truss manufacturer’s insurance company.  A meeting was held on Monday, July 26 with Tom O’Brien of O’Brien Robinson Construction Services (ORCS) and the representatives for the insurance company.  We believe that they now have a good understanding of the scope of the work required to repair the sanctuary.

Although you cannot see into the sanctuary any more (the windows were   covered to protect them, not to prevent us from seeing in), work is progressing in preparing the sanctuary to  allow for the removal of the roof. All of the drywall has been     removed from the east side of the sanctuary along with the lighting. The chancel has also been removed to allow the equipment access to the roof/ceiling. As I write this, the drywall, et al, is being removed from the west side of the sanctuary.

Beginning next week, the roof removal will begin. At this time, the exact method of removal has not been finalized.  The demolition contractor will make the final determination as to how the roof comes off the building.

Once the roof is completely removed, the walls will be checked for soundness. They will also be checked for plumb. Then the new trusses, with the correct sized plates, will be set into place, the plywood and shingles installed. Once that all happens, and the space is weather tight again, the interior finishing can begin, including new floor covering.

How long is this all going to take? No one knows for sure. The best estimate is 4-6 weeks to    remove and replace the roof; 2 weeks to install the utilities; 6-8 weeks to complete the interior finishes.

That is what we know at this time, and we will continue to update you as more information     becomes available. Please continue to pray for the safety of the construction workers as they work as quickly as possible to repair God’s church. In the mean time, if you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

MARYSVILLE BINGO

We are in need of king size or regular size candy bars or individually wrapped  Little Debbiesphoto_CandyBars_large for Marysville Bingo prizes. We give out a hundred candy bars per month as prizes and appreciate any support you are able to give.

Scout Liaison

HPC has 6 Boy Scouts and Girl Scout groups that meet here. Boy Scout Pack 418 and Troop 148 are chartered through the church. Several of the Boy and Girl Scouts have assisted with Angel Food Distribution, yard clean up, and recently we had a shed  provided as part of an Eagle Scout project. The scheduling Scout meetings go through the office, but Scout Sunday is organized with a Scout Liaison. If you would be willing to assist with this service in February, and assist with a few  scouting projects related to HPC, please contact Ed Hall at 876-1802.

This is not a huge time commitment, and we need some one to fill this position.

LIFE LINE SCREENING

Life Line Screening visits HPC annually to provide low cost prevention screenings. They will be here Tuesday,  August 24th in the Activity Room. If you would like to make an appointment, please call       1-800-324-1851. You can also visit www.LifeLineScreening.com.
